I had a lot of mixed emotions after watching "Deepwater Horizon", I really wanted to like the movie, but there were just certain aspects of this movie that just got to me a little bit. The major problem being that it spent a long time talking about what happened before the spill, rather than getting to the spill earlier in the movie, and spending a bit more time touching on the after effects.

I realize that this movie needed to build up the suspense, and really introduce you into what was going on, but there was one scene in particular that really expressed how much this disaster affected not only the people working in Deepwater Horizon, but also the marine life around the area.

It wasn't a huge deal to me that it didn't go in that direction, but it did touch a little bit on it, and I just feel like it could have done a little more, just because of the fact that it spent so long in the beginning reinforcing the fact that BP keeps mentioning that safety precautions aren't needed.

Other than that, this movie was a great experience for me, it was very heavy and emotional, but at the same time moving, and really opened my eyes as to how bad this disaster really was. Mark Wahlberg (Mike Williams) I thought did the best job at portraying the workers perspective in this project, and you could really tell how his character took on what was happening, and his powerful character really resonated with me, which was honestly a true potential Oscar level performance in this movie.

The plot is very clean, most people already know of he Deepwater Horizon oil spill anyway, and this movie also didn't try and throw in a whole lot of subplots which I liked, keeping it nice and streamlines.

All in all, there were only a few things that just got to me for some reason, and I can't say I enjoyed "Deepwater Horizon" as much as others do, but I do appreciate it for being a gripping thriller movie that caught and held my attention.

"Deepwater Horizon" is worth watching if you're bored.
