Review of Deepwater Horizon (2016) by Veronica X — 07 Oct 2016
Deepwater Horizon was a solid film that was more than just an action movie. Unlike some disaster flick they actually made the characters likeable very tastefully and made you care without seeming like they tried.
My main complaints are that the characters mumble a lot before the disaster and post disaster they camera is too shaky for my liking (although I see why Berg chose to do that). Performances are good from Walhberg, Russel, Malkovich, Hudson and Rodriguez as well as O'Brien who gives one of the most down to earth, realistic portraits I've ever seen from him (shame about the maze runner because he is awful in them).
But seriously this is a good film that pays nice homage to the poor people in the real life accident.
