Review of Deepwater Horizon (2016) by Ian G — 24 Dec 2016
Deepwater Horizon is a decent if unoriginal disaster film surrounding a set of oil riggers including Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell making their way out to the Deepwater Horizon, an oil rig which they were gearing up for another 3 week stretch on to do their job for the man despite the facts that the rig itself is way behind in maintenance and everything making the proceedings unsafe all for the bigger profit margins.
And of course during an inspection disaster strikes and you follow the crew as they attempt their escape. Acting is decent, and unfortunately Kate Hudson is wasted in the thankless role as the worried wife left on the mainland hoping for her boy to come home safe.
Probably suffered from coming out around the same time as Sully which was the disaster Miracle on the Hudson film that came out around the same time. Far from a bad film and had some decent thrills but not one to write home about either.
