Review of Deepwater Horizon (2016) by Late R — 26 Nov 2017
Fantastically filmed with some great cinematography and on-point directing from Peter Berg, as well as excellent performances from the cast, 'Deepwater Horizon' is as thrilling and dramatic as it is touching and poignant, showcasing not only the immense greed of some men, but the bravery and courage of others.
Granted, it doesn't have a lot to say about the environmental ramifications or how (or even if) this disaster affected the way corporate entities are allowed to operate, but I wasn't expecting that, either.
It is, after all is said and done, a disaster film - albeit more serious in tone than most - and it is one that is done right, paying great homage to everyday workers who, on that fateful day, stepped up and became true heroes.
