Review of Deep Impact (1998) by Simona B — 26 Jun 2010
This movie has actually grown on me over the years. strangely enough I really didn't like this when it first came out, I enjoyed Armageddon much more but now its the reverse this one has gotten better and Armageddon has gotten worse.
The reason I disliked it before was the fact it was just so over the top horribly sad and depressing and it made a point to do so but now I see better of why that feeling is a very warranted aspect and this film does the whole natural disaster thing with just more class and maturity than Armageddon.
Even though you could consider this film so totally overly saturated in mellow drama with less actual action the build up is just great and I appreciate when I can feel like I'm apart of something, that's when you know a film is effective and let me tell you the climax is surprisingly intense which when I was a kid was too much for my emotions to handle to see this and was too scary really.
However I'm glad those days are behind me and I can now enjoy this film with a more mature viewpoint than before.
