Review of Deep Impact (1998) by Dragon O — 01 Aug 2010
A classic disaster movie made during the late 90's revival of the genre. The acting in this movie is great, although I have some trouble believing the plot at times (read: nobody can run that fast).
Téa Leoni stands out in her role as Jennifer Learner. The cinematography is absolutely amazing, bringing the audience fabulous shots of the planet from outer-space. The special effects are also outstanding.
If you like this movie, you will probably also enjoy Armageddon (which came out around the same time and has a similar plot), Dante's Peak and Twister (which also were made in the same time period), and The Day After Tomorrow (which was made later but uses similar plot devices and has equally impressive special effects).
