Review of Deep Impact (1998) by Dom W — 19 Feb 2011
Many perspectives of this film I like. For one, unlike Armageddon, this has a story. It has characters you can feel for. Some of them are played really well (Robert Duvall) Whilst the film is flawed, some sequences are so dramatic and hold you so tightly it's hard to throw it off as just another crappy disaster flick.
For it's genre, it is a brilliant film - the list of bad disaster flicks is endless - and this one actually allows you to feel a huge amount of sympathy with the characters at the same time provoke thoughts about how as a society preserve our existence if this event did occur.
