Review of Deep Dark (2015) by Brian G — 22 Jan 2016
A great concept, sadly breaded up in a plot that flows like a river of cinderblocks, weak, unlikable, bizarre characterization, and a startling number of scenes that accomplish nothing even in its already short length.
The mysterious hole in the wall is the film's only likable character, and sadly sits at the center of a mystery that circles the drain for about an hour and has two wet-firecracker false climaxes before it gutters to a halt.
There's some great atmosphere, but it's kind of wasted. There are even two prominent characters whose entire presences in the movie could have been completely excised without the tiniest element of the plot changing.
