Review of Deep Blue Sea (1999) by Kbto S — 01 Oct 2012
This film has neither improved nor gotten worse with time. Could it be that Deep Blue Sea is timeless??? Probably not but it's some good underwater fun.
Those who don't like Deep Blue Sea are missing some key elements. There's giant intelligent killer sharks and LL Cool J!
And Sam Jackson has one of the best monologues of his career in this film.
Of course there's plenty of smart self referencial material but what makes it so good is that because of LL Cool J and Mr. Jackson, much of the film deals with the way black folk are treated in horror films.
While it's not the most subtle film, nor the most serious, this shark attack flick is one I enjoy quite a bit and think you should at least give it a shot.
