Review of Deconstructing Harry (1997) by Tyler S — 10 Aug 2010

Kirstie Alley hilarious. this is like an upgrade of "Adaptation", except 5 years before adaptation came out. not saying I like this because it's like charlie kaufman, either, kaufman has his own style but he took a lot from woody a, especially this movie, but woody a took a lot from 8 1/2.

allen's most brutal, self deprecating movie but also one of the funniest he's done, which is saying a lot. Lots of it....people might dislike/hate it for various reasons, but I think it's darn good and I can't think of something that could be any more self obliterating then this while still managing to be hilarious throughout.

..("ego-obliterating" is actually the phrase one of the flixter users goes with below, and that's maybe the best way to put it, so I just robbed half ha : ). No I don't hate the world and not an unhappy athiest or a nihilist etc.

..but that doesn't mean I wasn't laughing all the way through. Judy Davis and Hazelle Goodman also really funny (J davis over the top in some, but mostly funny). nice to see it again, much better the second time when I wasn't as shocked.
