Review of Deconstructing Harry (1997) by Paul C — 07 May 2011
I think this was probably the first Woody Allen film I ever saw. Watching it again today I realise that it was hardly the most simple of Allen films to begin with - but it made me want to see more. Watching it now for only the second time I was impressed; in places it's definitely rawer, ruder and possibly funnier than a lot of his earlier films.
The way it breaks off into little sketches ie: death coming to visit or Robin William's being out of focus is almost like things from his 70s films. I was really impressed with it. More complex than usual - quite Dennis Potteresque!
