Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito are two very funny actors. They have both been in some great films that are some of my favorites. Now, I have a theory about comedic actors: They belong to a decade. Comedians like Jim Carrey and Robin Williams made some great films in the 1990's, but fizzled out in the 2000's.

That definitely seems to be the case with this film. "Deck the Halls" follows a small town man as he gets ready for Christmas with his family, only to be outdone by a new neighbor who wants to be recognized for something.

The plot is...somewhere. The film just moves along, fixated solely on who has the biggest Christmas spirit, and that's it. It's very cheesey, and overly predictable....but it's a Christmas film, and it is somewhat enjoyable.

The acting is meh, Matthew Broderick seems to be overdoing it in some scenes, and Danny DeVito just acts like a watered down Frank from "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia". Everyone else is barely passable.

The minimal greenscreen used is painful to watch, and some of the scene transitions are weirdly done. The jokes vary from chuckle inducing to blatantly groan worthy. There is one joke, however, that involves the two bonding as only men can, only for it to go wrong.

It's a great gag, though predictable, but it still hits it's mark. Overall, it's a bit rough to watch, but it is a Christmas film, so it's serviceable.
