Review of Deception (2008) by Alan J — 11 Dec 2008
This is a tale of two halves. The first half of this movie is dynamite...high gloss, tinge of mystery, kinetic acting by both leads. The second half begins when you learn the true nature of one of the main characters.
.from that point (about 50 minutes into the film), the story weakens considerably, becomes a basic blackmailing of sorts, and most of the aura of mystery dries up. As the story nears its end, with its twists and turns it tries to be overly clever and cute, but seems more like a knot you can't undo.
In summary, alot of lost potential here, but still entertained for me, thanks in large measure to Jackman and McGregor.
