Review of Deception (2008) by Curt F — 12 Jul 2009
I don't know what I was more excited about, a geeky accountant entering the secret world of sex clubs or knowing that Michelle Williams from Dawson's Creek had a major role in this. (She is single again as she was the real world wife of Heath Ledger. Just keeping up with the lives of my Dawson's Creekers. One of them married Tom Cruise although I am not sure which one!).
To me Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman are two actors I really don't know much about and when I hear their names I really can't even picture them. This movie probably won't help that situation either.
Having said all of that I thought this movie was solid enough to recommend. I have to admit that I almost fell asleep once and one time I almost asked out loud "where is this damn thing going?".
While it drags a little at first it makes up for it in a very stylish way. While the ending was kind of predictable at least it was an ending that was thoughtful. A few clunkers I have seen lately seemed like nobody cared how those others ended.
I read the reviews below and noticed this one..." It's an..excruciatingly horrendous awful gouge-my-eyes-out slack jawed because I can't believe it...bad film." That is a little harsh don't you think? That is no way to treat a Dawson's Creeker!
