Review of Deception (2008) by Benjamin W — 14 Nov 2009
First of all, I have no idea why critics hated the movie, the plot is not predictable at all. Before watching the movie I wasn't sure about the anonymous sex part, until the shape of the story became quite clear and gives us one hell of a ride of a Thriller mix with Romance and Drama.
It's the story of an accountant who goes by the name of Jonathan McQueery who doesn't have any social life until he meets Wyett Bose. While having lunch, Wyett intentionally and secretly swaps their cell phone, giving McQueery a list of anonymous women who wants to have anonymous sex while Wyett is on a trip to London.
One night, McQueery's love interest appears as one of them... they fall in love. But a much much more complicated event starts to unfold on one faithful night in Chinatown that could have been avoided if Jonathan just walked away.
... you just have to see it to understand. And of course, this is how major twists and surprises will make you go O_O.
