Review of Death Wish (2018) by Rational L — 04 Mar 2018
It's an Eli Roth movie, so right from the gate you should have an idea of what you're going to get. I saw this movie on opening weekend and I enjoyed it. Bruce Willis played the role of Dr. Paul Kersey well. Dean Norris was decent as Detective Rains who played a semi secondary antagonist: a sight for sore eyes for Breaking Bad fans. And the roles of Criminals were done in a creepy enough fashion to where you didn't feel bad that they met their fate: a standard for what any action revenge plot needs to do.
RE: to the "Now is not the time for this movie, guns are bad mmkay" crowd - There's NEVER a time for this movie to you people. You are not the audience for this film. Postulate on high from your ivory tower as much as you like about the glorification of gun violence, but the reality of the situation is that bad people will forever do bad things, will always have guns/weapons to use against defenseless people, and will use violence on everyday people for selfish reasons. That's the reason why "revenge plots" resonate with everyday people. Rip this movie all you want for the messaging and the politics. It will change nothing.
