Review of Death Wish (1974) by Johnny E — 14 Jun 2007
If you forget about all the lackluster sequels, and view this movie on it's own, you almost have a masterpiece. One of the first grim and gritty movies of the 70's, this and Dirty Harry influenced an entire genre.
The difference between this and Dirty Harry is one can relate to Charles Bronson's Paul Kersey. He's not a cop, he's a regular average joe who's placed under unendurable trauma, and snaps, leaving a trail of bodies littering New York in his wake.
