Review of Death Wish (1974) by Matt Z — 17 Jul 2007
This movie sets the bar for the action genre. It has a raw feel to it that can't be emulated by more modern action flicks. No relying solely on special effects like the Matrix, no over choreographed kung-fu bullshit like Kill Bill.
Bronson finds the bad guys (most of whom happen to be minorities, which only makes it that much better) and shoots the shit out of them. Also, credit needs to be given to Kersey for being the only action hero with enough sense to shoot people on the ground, just to make sure they're dead-fuckin awesome.
Great movie.
