Review of Death Wish (1974) by Phillip H — 26 Nov 2007
A simple, straight forward yet effective revenge thriller starring the late Charles Bronson. A very young Jeff Goldblum makes his debut as but one of the scuzzy street rats who assaults & rapes architect Paul Kersey's wife & daughter.
After learning of the rapes (& eventual death of his wife), Paul naturally transforms from mild-mannered family man who wouldn't kill a fly into a hardened vigilante who patrols the streets of New York killing every lowlife that crosses his path.
A controversial 70's classic that's main noticable scar is the ol' case of sequel-itis. Oh yeah, & apparently Sylvester Stallone is both starring & directing a remake. Sigh, what's this world come to? Stick with the original.
