Review of Death Wish (1974) by Tommy M — 11 Oct 2009
Not exactly a groundbreaking example of its genre, but an engrossing story nonetheless. It may have come two years ahead of the one that gets more attention, but 'Taxi Driver' will always be the ultimatum of mad man protagonist films.
Unlike many other vengeance thrillers, this is one of few in which the good-guy-turned-bad-guy is actually believable in the way he slowly transforms his personality; by the end of the film, Charles Bronson has played the adjustment so well that just touching him would be the equivalent of detonating a stick of dynamite.
