Review of Death Wish (1974) by Paul B — 12 Jan 2011
I just bumped my rating up for this (previously bumping it down) after seeing it for the third time in something like 30 years. Not a very good movie, but I do have a weakness for old Charlie. I would have liked this to have either been more exploitative, or more of a quality film.
Love Vincent Gardenia. The Herbie Hancock score is very good. I remember Christopher Guest as the rookie cop, but forgot that Freddy "Boom Boom" Washington was one of the random muggers, and that Jeff Goldblum was the goofy thug (in a Jughead cap, no less!) that rapes the daughter's face.
WARNING: Jeff's bony ass is clearly visible in this scene!
