Review of Death Wish (1974) by Justin A — 05 Feb 2013
The message is a bit contrived, and it seems like a movie overly enthusiastic gun-nuts would love to watch over and over again. New York must be a pretty nasty place to get mugged that often and consistently, even when you're just at a diner getting coffee.
It seems like somewhere between the script and filming, the true point of the movie was lost. It's called "Death Wish" and I figured it would mostly be about Bronson finding excuses to go out to dangerous places just so he could shoot people.
To be fair, that's what the movie WAS about for a bit, until it became about him being a vigilante and trouble always seemed to find him. That's when it became a bit too basic and steered away from what I felt was a stronger concept in the beginning.
I did enjoy the gritty realism though and it is a fun movie to watch.
