Review of Death Wish (1974) by Queen B — 12 Jul 2009
A film that packs a punch but for me loses its way a little, Charles Bronsonâ??s character is hell bent on ridding New York of the scum that plague the streets and take advantage of the innocent. So after the death of his wife and sexual abuse of his daughter he goes on a vigilante rampage.
Bronson however doesnâ??t seem too bothered in wanting to avenge the death of his wife and find those responsible, but seemingly takes it out on others who seem to be constantly terrorizing him around every corner.
Itâ??s hard, dark and gritty and shot in true 70â??s style, it must have been a bit of a crowd pleaser as Bronsonâ??s character Paul Kersey came back for another four films. As yet I have not seen these but will certainly be taking them all in, I know that theyâ??re going to be pretty bad but I just want to see how Kersey develops.
