Review of Death Trance (2005) by Ellie S — 30 Jun 2008
The person who recomended this to me said that it was really an anime shot as a live action...on that point, I was only a little disappointed. the characters were definately anime-esc and some of the scenery and action sequences, and especially weapons, were anime based.
but that's about the end of it. the action in this movie was great, I would watch it again just for the fighting. it was a little difficult to figure out what time period it was in, really, because they were all dressed as Feudal era samurai/ninja people, and then bam, out of now where, Grave is riding around on a motorcycle, killing people.
so yes, the action was over the top and the diologue got a little ridiculous, and that monk kid was pretty much useless, but MAN it was a cool movie. I think they could have done alot more with it, explained a bit more, etc, but it was great.
this would also make a fantastic anime (a real one) if they got the right animators for it. you can't say that about every movie, but you can about this one. great movie. loved it.
