Review of Death to Smoochy (2002) by Chris S — 17 Dec 2007
Could've and should've been much better, given the concept and talent involved. I expected more from director DeVito after his highly entertaining black comedies Throw Momma from the Train and The War of the Roses.
There are some laughs here and there, most of them provided by the always-reliable Catherine Keener, but overall I was left scratching my head at just what DeVito was thinking at the time. I laughed more watching the 5 minutes of outtakes on the DVD than during the entire film.
