Review of Death to Smoochy (2002) by Bill P — 13 May 2008
A rare dark comedy about a children's TV show mascot, Death to Smoochy shows us the fall of a star in Rainbow Randolph and the birth of a saint in Smoochy or Sheldon Mopes (Norton). Edward Norton shines in this movie further proving to everyone that he can play just about any role.
He is delightful here and easy to fall in love with. The movie chronicles his love for children and the hardships that come upon him when everyone is out to get rich and kill anyone or anything that gets in their way.
If you are a Norton fan, I reccommend this flick. You may have to be in the mood for it but I loved it. Definitely can see this as being a love or hate film. Good luck!
