Review of Death to Smoochy (2002) by Jerry N — 01 Mar 2009
This movie is funny on a few different levels. There is also the metaphor of a pure, innocent character being warped and lowered to the level the slumiest of the slumiest of the business that is showbiz.
It seemed like a bitter commentary on how the business works (although blown out of proportion in order to make it apparent). Although it does make the average movie goer uncomfortable, it is a dark comedy and that is what comes along with it.
Not the BEST dark comedy I've ever seen however, but still solid.
