Review of Death Sentence (2007) by Jeanie R — 06 Feb 2009
I didn't really know what to expect from this. I was slightly surprised to find it is your usual revenge story and you see it from the start; when a film starts with blurry family videos documenting lots of happiness and American-dream esque imagery... you know it is all going to hell.
Yes, no surprise, Kevin Bacon who is a risk-management executive, goes up against a powerful street gang after they kill his oldest son. Ultimately, his revenge leads to his entire family being murdered... nearly dying himself, he becomes a vengeful angel and the film turns quickly into Max Payne.
Not entirely unconvincing... his character's development does seem real enough as logic and reason are slowly replaced by cold revenge. I don't think it ended on the right note... but overall a bit of mindless action!
