Review of Death Sentence (2007) by Kevin R — 22 May 2009
Anyone who know me knows I love a revenge flick, an Death Sentence is no different. Kevin Bacon plays a corporate exec whos favorite son gets killed in a gang initiation hold up. The movie follows bacon and his family as they cope with the loss.
Bacons character decides that an eye for an eye would be the best thing to alleviate his grief. Twists and turns ensue. This is by the original director of SAW, so its pretty graphic at times without ever entering the truly disgusting.
A few of the chase and gunfight scenes shine, a personal favorite was the one where Bacon prepares his guns, without ever having held a gun in his life. The movie uses an unnecessary assortment of slow motion montages to show personal grief on both sides of the conflict and I didnt need it, they just lengthened the movie.
And some of the families grief is painfully unnatural. A good flick to watch with the guys.
