Review of Death Sentence (2007) by Joey G — 23 Apr 2010
What a spectacular film. Perhaps the budget shows some vague room for improvement, but considering it was a work of limitation it was phenomenal. I never really understood why some people found it poor.
The acting was brilliant, particularly by way of Kevin Bacon, and I have rarely ever felt as much genuine emotion and empathy for a film or its characters as I did for this. Certainly it was a fair deal out of realism, but this is a working of dark fiction focusing on the surreal idea of what every parent would want to do if this very incident occurred in their own life.
Why does a film have to be realistic to be enjoyable? I felt it was a wonderful film, among the best I have ever seen, and if it was not for the regular sub-par reviews I would recommend it to anyone.
But, perhaps I am the odd one out.
