Review of Death Sentence (1968) by Jérôme R — 20 Sep 2009
Having a soft spot for revenge/vigilante flick's, this one stole my heart instantly.
NOw beleive me when I say that deep down, this movie is in no way a good film. Logic is pretty much thrown out the window, leading to some eyebrow raising scenes and questionable character actions. The film also suffers from being stuck in the limbo between cartoon violence and serious dramatic bloodshed.
All that aside the film tells a kickass story about a mild mannered uperclass working stiff (Bacon), who's son is killed in a gang initiation. This leads to a series of retaliations that turn Bacon into a bad-ass, revenge-filled, gun-toting badass.
Incredible action scenes that pack a significant punch with the emotional factor and a great soundtrack to cap it off.
Watch it with a straight face but remember to have a bit of fun.
