Review of Death Race (2008) by Hm F — 12 Feb 2011
Highly entertaining thanks to some spectacular action setpieces and the ever dependable Statham cool. Anderson directs with gusto the different stages of the death race. It kicks into high gear with stage 2 and the introduction of the Dreadnought.
Although the movie lacks the open road aspect of the original, the video-game inspired changes adds some spark to the story. The prison aspect of the story fuels Anderson's love of the grand escape (see AV and numerous Resident Evil movies).
Nothing surprising really, but its a fun actioner.
