Review of Death Race (2008) by The S — 27 Mar 2010
Goddam you, Paul Anderson! Why can't you make more movies like Event Horizon? This is, sadly, one of those concepts that is amazingly awesome (even though it's been done a few times before, starting with the original Death Race 2000) but is let down by cringeworthy Hollywood cheese, complete with a god-awful soundtrack and laughable dialogue.
There are some great action sequences and Jason Statham is clearly the man, but those two reasons alone aren't enough to make this movie any better than 'okay'.
