Review of Death Race 2000 (1975) by James S — 30 Mar 2008
Gloriously bad, this B-movie Grindhouse style offering is almost so bad that it's good. Almost.
It's entertaining enough as ugly dudes and women with odd looking nipples, race across country mowing innocents down in a future controlled by sport and violence.
It's wonderfully stupid but not much of it makes much sense and it seems like a badly edited string of sequences of violence and nudity.
The car scenes are an obvious influence on Tarantino's Death Proof and for the time they were made are quite impressive but overall, it feels like a bit of a waste of 80 minutes.
