Review of Death Race 2000 (1975) by Donnie M — 08 Jul 2010
Death Race 2000 is classic Grindhouse material from the 70's about a futuristic world torn apart by a world that is falling apart. The only thing that manages to make people happy and helps them all come together is the family sport Death Race, where a handful of racers race across the US in an attempt to be the first to cross the finish line, not to mention trying to survive as well as take out as many walking pedestrians as possible.
The race is led by everyone's hero, Frankenstein, played with gusto by the awesome David Carradine who adds spice and flair to the heroic role. Filling in on the villainous side if none other than Sylvester Stallone, who plays Machine Gun Kelly.
As expected, director Paul Bartel provides top not direction and makes it a very fun and entertaining film, plus there are a bevy of beautiful, and very naked 70's babes, including genre favorite Mary Woronov, Simone Griffeth, the late Roberta Collins, and super-busty Louisa Moritz.
This film is definitely a blast.
