Review of Death Race 2000 (1975) by Jake K — 11 Sep 2010
Death Race 2000 is definetly one of those movies you need to see before you see the recent remake. Not because it's better, but because it is so unique that watching Stathams new film would make this feel like a has been.
This really is a 'cult classic' just because there is nothing like it. The over the top violence and fast driving is so insanely bad that you can only laugh at the movie. Yet, it's so enjoyable. Sly Stallone is plays his part so badly that I loved it! I'm pretty sure he shouts for some reason every 2 minutes, no joking. Actually, the acting as a whole is really bad. Like, really really bad. And the 'effects' are so much the worse. They used paint for blood, but they didn't even get the colour right, they decided to se orange. Orange? And for some reason when a car does ONE barrel role it blows up.
No matter how you look at it, this movie is horrible. But for some strange and bizare reason, it is one big fun and enjoyable cheese fest. It is also funny to watch their view for the 21st century.
