Review of Death Race 2000 (1975) by Adam C — 24 Feb 2013
Fun cheesy flick with over the top violence/gore, attractive women and dark humor. Reminds me of certain video games such as Twisted Metal and Carmageddon. There's some decent performances. I really enjoyed David Carradine's performance as Frankenstein.
He plays is straight as an arrow despite his grossly figure. This was also an early performance from Sylvester Stallone who plays rival driver Machine Gun Joe. Stallone's character is a very egotistical and sometimes hot head racer.
This film is an early concept on how reality television will be in the future, and they're pretty much dead on. At a running time of an hour and fifteen minutes, Death Race's fast paced tone will keep you entertained all the way down to the finish line.
