Review of Death Race 2 (2010) by Kevin R — 22 Dec 2011
Life is more valuable than money.
Death Race 2 depicts the evolution of reality television from simple games of death to the eventual launch of Death Race. Death Race, as depicted in the original film, really takes off when the character Frankenstein is delivered to audiences. How will Frankenstein make his grand appearance to live television audiences?
"What you call a nightmare I call a wet dream.".
Roel Reine, director of Car Wars, Adrenaline, Drifter, The Marine 2, and the upcoming Scorpion King 3 and Death Race 3, delivers Death Race 2. The storyline for this picture starts a little slow and methodical but eventually picks up and delivers clever action sequences. The acting is below average, even for the action genre, and the cast includes Ving Rhames, Luke Goss, Sean Bean, Lauren Cohan, and Danny Trejo.
"You're a big motherfucker, yes?".
Death Race 2000 was a family favorite growing up so I decided to keep the tradition alive and add this picture to our collection. I was not a big fan of how long it took to get into the car sequences, which remained excellent, but the best aspect of the film seemed rushed. Overall, this is an average film with some good car kill scenes.
"I'm not good enough in bed to win this war.".
Grade: C+.
