Review of Death Proof (2007) by Alex R — 29 Jul 2011
Don't know why, don't know how, don't know who the hell gave Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof" a measly 64% on this thing, but after watching the fully extended and unrated cut of the film I can only look at it as another gem in Tarantino's prestigious collection.
After never seeing Grindhouse, I thought Death Proof was only a part of a whole experience that I wasn't in the least bit intrigued to watch. Now shortly after seeing this wonderful movie do I see what Tarantino's goal was in this homage to 70's horror and muscle car movies.
It can be a little talky at times, even for a Tarantino film, and audience members that can't spot amazing camera work might find themselves a little bored. To those I say: hold on, because the the roller coaster is just making it's ascent before dropping you face first to the ground.
Wonderful and fun, as well as tense and grotesque, this is one very recommended film.
