Review of Death Proof (2007) by Tyler H — 12 Jan 2013
Tarantino has a blast with this affectionate nod to 80's exploitation films. What we get is a film that's 90% Tarantino-dialogue, 10% Tarantino-hyper-violence, and 100% awesomeness. Kurt Russell plays both our antagonist and our protagonist, all in one character: Stuntman Mike, who wields his self-proclaimed "death proof" vehicle as a vicious weapon against women.
Sometimes it gets a little too talky, to the point of slight boredom, but Tarantino knows what he's doing, and he doesn't let the audience sleep for too long, as the last 25 minutes of the film feature quite possibly the most breathtaking car chase in movie history.
