Review of Death Proof (2007) by Andrew H — 19 Aug 2013
It's not a perfect Tarantino movie. It's no Pulp Fiction or Jackie Brown. But I liked it a lot more than those Kill Bill movies. The casting genius is at it again: this time he squeezes a pretty brilliant performance out of Kurt Russell of all people.
Lots of gratuitous worship of women's feet that I could do without, and it's flawed, but moments of brilliance for sure. I have to say, I don't think he really successfully captured the 1970s vibe.
Vintage Tarantino.
