Review of Death Proof (2007) by Joshua D — 03 Jul 2014
At 1 hour and 53 minutes, Death Proof seems to be Quentin Tarantino's "talkiest" film given the runtime and the amount of action set pieces he gives us. But even in that amount of time, he delivers a unique film experience unlike anything done in the last 20 or so years.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead is criminally underused (I'm biased, she's one of my favorite actresses) and QT really self indulges in what he seems to know is his marvelous dialogue between the characters.
However, the final 30 minutes or so of the film are worth the wait and Kurt Russell owns every scene he's in. Not to mention the ending, which takes us down a road I didn't even expect.
