Review of Death on the Nile (1978) by Jason V — 01 Oct 2008
An all star cast enjoys a cruise down the Nile River, when murder interrupts their voyage.
Peter Ustinov leads the impressive cast, as the world's most famous Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. Legendary grand dames of the silver screen and stage, Angela Lansbury, Dame Maggie Smith, and Bette Davis grab much attention as an eccentric, wealthy passenger (Lansbury), a rich, old American socialite (Davis), and the socialite's awkward personal secretary (Smith). David Niven, George Kennedy, Mia Farrow, Jack Warden, and Olivia Hussey round out the large cast of victims and suspects.
All in all, this a very well-made version of the famed Agatha Christie mystery novel of the same name. The usage of point of view shots in emphasizing the murderer's exact actions is genius.
