Review of Death of a President (2006) by James F — 01 Oct 2007
Fantastic idea, horrible execution (no pun intended). I thought the basic idea of this movie was so interesting and intriguing. Unfortunately, I think that the creators of the film thought that too. They seemed to think that that would be enough to sort of coax their way through the movie.
The faux documentary starts out well enough by setting the tone of what would come. You already know what's going to "happen" in the events. It was interesting to see the actual footage with the actors super imposed into it too.
Somewhere about halfway into this film, I just got lost. Well, let me rephrase that. I was following the film well enough. It just seemed like it started with one idea and then just sort of flew around to all this other stuff. I guess when you look at it, this film is trying to explain the sort of consequences or repercussions that would result from the assassination of George W. Bush. It's interesting on paper, but I felt that it didn't hold it's own all the way through. I was ultimately left disappointed, almost like a girl on prom night except I don't have lady parts.
