Review of Death of a President (2006) by Gianluca M — 29 Aug 2008
The first film I ever show that makes the chimerical notion of a "docufiction" bearable to me, nay now through this I fully appreciate the idea.
A great near-documentary about what the US are - well, may be - like in everyday life, including how they view their politics and, with some amazing flashes of how the US view themselves - such as Chicago being rated as a location where it is difficult to manage street demonstrations... and accepting as realistic fiction that a possible terrorist supporter cleared of a charge is still denied the opportunity to appeal since all of us are more comfortable with him in prison.
Let's just keep in mind that thjs very true-to-life or verisimilar fiction is still a fiction, and so liable to the same manipulation than explicit full-fledged fiction.
