Review of Death of a President (2006) by Fabian S — 18 Nov 2006
The "what if..." drama pretend documentary is a fairly recent genre. Telling a story - often a huge scale fictional event - as if it had really happened is refreshing, interesting and potentially much more hard-hitting than a Hollywood movie.
After all, George Orwell's War of the Worlds as news broadcast convinced thousands that aliens were invading by doing roughly the same thing on radio. And Death of a President is a fine example of such a film.
It looks and feels convincingly genuine, the story is not too dumb (but neither too clever), and it manages to thrill and entertain. I'd recommend it for watching once.
