Review of Death Note (2017) by Nathan T — 25 Aug 2017
Let's start out with this, the score given for this movie here is unfair to say the least. I do agree with many that the movie is lacking in some parts in terms of execution and it does generally seems rushed to accomplish the story and key plot points, from the original series and manga.
With that being said, the movie was in fact good! As an adapted story the cast did very well representing the characters in a new "Light" so to speak. Of course there were things I wanted to see on a personal level being a fan of the series.
However objectively speaking for that reason alone doesn't merit a instant dislike of the movie either. It is a great ice breaker for those unfamiliar with the story and broadens the horizons for of adaptations to come forward into the main stream.
Not an overwhelming success but it was a "good" movie worth watching and a starting point to learn from and improve if there is to be a sequel...
