Review of Death in Venice (1971) by Neil O — 02 Feb 2010
Visconti's striking adaptation of Thomas Mann's DEATH IN VENICE captures the poignancy of Mann's novel with a sharp, sinister, and unwavering accuracy. Dirk Bogarde portrays the doomed & tormented Aschenbach with terrifying accuracy.
The agonisingly slow pace allows the slight, but powerful story to unfold with devestating effect. Wonderful.
