Review of Death Hunt (1981) by Ken & Becky H — 07 Aug 2007
I am a big charles bronson fan. this was no less than I expected. this was one of the greatest films I have seen him in to date. the story was awesome: brono saves a fighting dog, fairly, by buying it forcefully from its owner.
they don't take kindly to it and when the mounties don't do anything they send a posse to kill him. without much luck things turn into a manhunt before they turn into a bloodbath as idiot miner after idiot trapper after idiot dog guy die brutally.
lee marvin was a great cop with a great sense of reason. amazing cinematography and shots of the yukon. great "dawn of the dead" style special effects. it is great when the indian gets his head blown off in the beginning and you know there is no fuckin around.
everything is awesome in this except (where it loses a star) the big shoot up, blow out ending I was hoping for. it would've been better to have brono fight to the death and get eaten by dogs (in a twist of irony) or where he obliterates his enemies with dynamite? watch this if you like good movies.
.. and you can stomach a little dog fighting and old school gore.
