This run of the mill flick is actually quite a few years old. held off from being released during a time that saw both 'the prestige' and 'the illusionist' hit screens it is now no wonder what took this film so long to see the light of day.

it is easily the weakest of the three. guy pearce plugs away with limited material as Harry Houdini, a man whos mystique is heavily compromised and rarely revered in the way it should during a film that leaves you not in awe of his exploits, rather bemused at his directors tact during a weak and shallow exploration of his attachment to the afterlife.

not a patch on the tony curtis biopic 'Houdini', a real disappointment. Catherine Zeta-Jones too struggles to find her footing, with no character or actor impressing mainly because of such a timid and poor delivery of what should have been, or rather had the potential to be, an interesting film.
